Munnabhai plays the communal card

If communal speeches could be measured using the metric system the upcoming Lok Sabha polls would surely be the winner. When it comes to communal speeches and divisive politics our netas surely have no match in the world. After Varun Gandhi made a name for himself for his anti-Muslim speech its is now the turn of our very own Munnabhai Sanjay Dutt.

In an election rally in Uttar Pradesh he said that he was tortured to the third degree and booked under the TADA because his mother (famous actress Nargis) was Muslim. He was campaigning for Samajwadi Party (SP) nominee Arshad Jamal Ansari in a minority dominated community. This speech did not go down well with the Election Commission and they served him a notice.

Sanjay Dutt might have a short memory and forgotten that he was found possessing an AK-56 rifle which he had acquired from the Mumbai underworld. Now surely that unlicensed piece of metal was not meant for killing birds nor was it to be a show piece in his living room. If he was not to be booked under the TADA what else was to be done with him after the Mumbai serial blasts?

Was he insane enough not to know AK-56 was a banned weapon. If he was that insane and ignorant how does he expect to represent people of this country being their leader. Owing his celebrity status he could have raised this issues of torture before. What took him 14 years since his release to reveal this truth to the country. Didn't he ever hear “to accept injustice is also a crime”?

Now where did the question of him being the son of a Muslim mother come from. Sanjay and his siblings had always proudly carried his father's surname like most Indians do so where is the question of him being victimised for being a Muslim woman's son. There were several Muslim stars in Bollywood why were none of them accused of being a part of the plot and put behind bars in the case if Muslims were victimised.

He should thank his luck that he literally got away with the case due to his celebrity status and the influence his father had over the politicians in Maharashtra and Delhi. There are several others accused who have been behind the bars for the last 16 years. The fact is Bollywood actors are used to retakes and don't think twice before committing a blunder. Sanju baba get back to the sliver screen, politics doesn't seem to be your cup of tea.
